I always see these erotic photography books coming out. They’re beautiful, filled with outstanding photography which I admire. I look at the work inside and think “My work should be in this.” But it isn’t.

Graduate school has been trying desperately to kick my ass.

But it’s not working; my ass will not be kicked. Halfway through the program, each graduate student goes up for review in front of a faculty panel. A 30 minute ordeal where you talk to them about your work for about 15 minutes (“talk” is used loosely here; it’s not a dialog but a monologue while they listen impartially) they fire questions at you for 10ish and then you’re asked to leave while the deliberate and decide whether you’ve passed or failed. Half of the students who go up for review actually don’t pass their first time. Fail twice and you’re kicked out of the program.

I had my review a week ago and passed on my first try.

And just so we’re clear on this: Kemosabe hasn’t stopped shooting erotica. No, it’s not sanitized either. I didn’t try to “clean it up” for them or anything. To be frank, it’s probably creepier than anything I’ve shown to you perverts out in the world of tumblr.

Halfway done with my Master of Fine Arts and now beginning my thesis on voyeurism, spying and stalking. Life is good.

The Rumors of My Demise...

There’ve been whispers that Mr. Blackwood has gone legit. Vicious rumors that graduate school has sanitized me. That in the pursuit of higher education that academia has taken the “Kinc” out of “Kincaid.”

Nothing could be further from the truth.

In reality, my professors (all of whom support my erotica) are actually pushing me to do more and more perverted work. I shit you not. I do a piece of foot fetish… not enough. I create a piece that a glorification of the anus… it’s not enough. The stuff I’m doing on voyeurism and peeping toms? They want more. I thought that I’d finally cross their line, doing a piece that straddled the hazy area between drug overdose, necrophilia and rape fantasy. They don’t get enough.

And I thought you perverts were dirty!

You would think that I’m exaggerating but I’m not. They support it and can’t wait for the next set. My work has only gotten dirtier, this is the truth. I know I haven’t been posting a lot of the new stuff on tumblr but believe me: I’ve been busy. Busier than ever before in fact, having made the transition to doing photography full-time. 100% of my income now comes from creating images.

You’ll see more soon enough. Coming to a gallery near you…
